Applied Journalism for Digital Media
Duration: 6 Months
Program Type: Full-Time

Our flagship program, Applied Journalism for Digital Media, is designed to transform fresh graduates and aspiring journalists into skilled professionals ready for the challenges of digital media journalism. This six-month program provides a comprehensive education that combines theoretical knowledge, technical training, and hands-on industry experience.

Theoretical Foundation
This section provides students with a deep understanding of journalism concepts, journalistic ethics, and the role of journalism in society. Students learn the constitutional values that underpin a free press and are introduced to various aspects of journalism such as:

Journalistic Ethics: Understanding the ethical responsibilities of journalists.

Constitutional Values & Law: A comprehensive overview of the Indian Constitution, media law, and press freedom.

Core Journalism Skills: Techniques for reporting, writing engaging content, and conducting investigative journalism.

Interviewing Techniques: The art of interviewing, including preparation, managing sensitive interviews, and handling confrontational situations.

Technical Skills for Digital Media
This section focuses on the technical aspects of digital journalism, with an emphasis on video production and digital tools. Students gain hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment and software, learning how to:

Videography & Sound Recording: Basics of videography, camera work, and sound recording for interviews and documentaries.

Video Editing: Introduction to non-linear editing software, learning the basics of cutting, transitions, and sound editing.

Digital Tools: Using media analytics, digital marketing tools (Google Ads, Facebook Ads), and promoting content across social media platforms.

Real-World Reporting & Industry Exposure

 In the final part of the program, students apply their learning in real-world situations. They cover news stories, conduct interviews, and produce documentaries across Chennai. Students also receive in-depth training on digital media analytics and how to interpret data to make informed editorial decisions. This part ensures that graduates are job-ready, with a portfolio of real-life work to show potential employers.
